Proper Stretching Techniques Before You Workout

When getting your exercise in one of the best things that you can do for your body is to stretch. Making sure that you’re flexible and that your muscles are warmed up is an important component of proper fitness. Before you hit the gym be sure you practice proper stretching technique.

Stretching your calf muscle properly will make you a better runner. A proper way to stretch is to stand facing the wall with one foot in front of the other. Bend at the knees and lean towards the wall. Once you feel the stretch in your calf muscle hold for thirty seconds and then switch.

To stretch your quad you should stand near a wall where you can hold something to keep your balance. Grab your ankle and pull your heel up to your seat. Keep your stomach muscles in to support your lower back. Hold this stretch for thirty seconds and then switch.

When you stretch one of the things to be sure that you do not do is bounce. You want to hold the stretch to be sure that you are increasing muscle flexibility without causing any tears to the ligaments.
