We want you to stay healthy when working out in our fitness center. The best way to maintain your health is to stay hydrated during your workouts.
- Pre-Workout Hydration: The day before your workout, drink extra water, 100 percent juice or nonfat or one percent milk. You want to drink at least eight ounces of fluids two hours before you start working out. Drink another five to ten ounces of water or a sports drink 30 minutes before your workout.
- Workout Hydration: You should drink an addition 16 ounces for every pound you lose during your workout. Here is an example: If you drink eight ounces and lose one pound while exercising, you want to drink a total of 24 ounces during your next workout.
- Post-Workout Hydration: Weigh yourself before and after your workout, and drink 24 ounces for every pound you have lost. If your weight has increased, you have over hydrated and should drink less during your next few sessions. Drink to quench your thirst after your workout.
